Recipe: Spiced Iced Ceylon Tea

Bold Ceylon black tea spiced with cinnamon, cardamom, and a whisper of black pepper — served over ice for a refreshingly complex summer drink.

This isn't a simple iced tea — it's a full-flavoured spiced brew that is complex, aromatic, and deeply refreshing. The warming spices somehow make the iced tea feel cooler and more satisfying than a plain brew.

Serves: 4 | Prep + Brew: 20 min | Chill: 1 hour

Ingredients

  • 4 tsp (8–10 g) CeylonBlends FBOP Ceylon Black Tea
  • 800 ml just-boiled water
  • 1 stick CeylonBlends Ceylon Cinnamon
  • 4 cardamom pods, lightly crushed
  • 5 whole CeylonBlends Black Pepper Seeds
  • 2 tbsp honey or sugar (adjust to taste)
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Ice and fresh mint to serve

Instructions

  1. Combine the cinnamon, cardamom, and black pepper seeds in a heatproof jug.
  2. Steep the tea and whole spices together in 800 ml of just-boiled water for 4 minutes. Do not over-steep.
  3. Strain into a clean jug. While still warm, stir in honey until dissolved.
  4. Cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  5. To serve, fill glasses with ice, pour the chilled tea over, and finish with a squeeze of lemon and a sprig of mint.

Tip: Make a double batch and keep refrigerated for up to 3 days. The flavour deepens beautifully overnight.
