Recipe: Ceylon Iced Tea Lemonade

The bright, citrusy character of Ceylon OP tea meets fresh lemon in a drink that is effortlessly refreshing and endlessly versatile.

A half-and-half of brewed Ceylon tea and fresh lemonade, served over ice. It sounds simple because it is — and it is perfect. The clean, slightly citrusy character of whole-leaf OP tea and the bright acidity of fresh lemon were made for each other.

Serves: 4 | Time: 15 min + cooling

Ingredients

Ceylon Tea Base

  • 4 tsp CeylonBlends Whole Leaf Ceylon Tea (OP)
  • 500 ml just-boiled water
  • 2 tbsp sugar or honey (optional)

Lemonade

  • Juice of 3 lemons (approximately 100 ml)
  • 300 ml cold water
  • 2 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)

To Serve

  • Ice, lemon slices, fresh mint

Instructions

  1. Steep the tea in just-boiled water for 3 minutes. Strain and, while warm, stir in sweetener if using. Cool completely.
  2. Stir together lemon juice, cold water, and sugar until sugar dissolves.
  3. To serve, fill glasses with ice. Pour equal amounts of chilled tea and lemonade. Garnish with lemon slices and mint.

Adjust the ratio to taste — more tea for a bolder flavour, more lemonade for extra brightness. A splash of sparkling water makes a lovely Arnold Palmer variation.
