Recipe: Ceylon Cinnamon Apple Crumble
CeylonBlends Editorial··⏱ 4 minrecipedessertbakingcinnamonapplebritishautumn

The quintessential British pudding elevated by the delicate sweetness of Ceylon cinnamon — warm, fragrant, and endlessly comforting.
Apple crumble is a universally loved comfort dessert, and Ceylon cinnamon — with its gentle, complex sweetness — elevates it from good to exceptional. The delicate flavour of Cinnamomum verum (as opposed to the more assertive cassia sold in most supermarkets) complements the apple without overwhelming it.
Serves: 6 | Prep: 20 min | Cook: 35–40 min | Oven: 180 °C fan
Ingredients
Apple Filling
- 800 g apples (Granny Smith or Braeburn), peeled, cored, diced
- 2 tbsp caster sugar
- 1 tsp CeylonBlends Cinnamon Powder
- ½ lemon, zested and juiced
- Optional: 1 small cinnamon stick, broken in two
Crumble Topping
- 150 g plain flour
- 100 g cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 80 g rolled oats
- 70 g demerara or light brown sugar

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180 °C fan. Toss apple pieces with sugar, cinnamon, lemon zest and juice. Tip into a baking dish (approx. 25×20 cm).
- Rub cold butter into flour with your fingertips until it resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Mix in oats, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Do not overmix — lumps are desirable.
- Scatter crumble topping evenly over the apples. Press down lightly.
- Bake 35–40 minutes until topping is golden brown and apple filling is bubbling at the edges.
- Serve warm with cream, custard, or vanilla ice cream.
