The OPA is the large-leaf expression of Ceylon's orthodox orange pekoe family — distinguished by its bold, open leaf pieces and the elegant air twist that sets it apart from its more tightly rolled cousins. The larger leaf surface produces a measured, layered infusion: the cup opens gradually, revealing a smooth body with mild natural astringency that integrates beautifully whether served with milk or taken pure. This grade has historically commanded a premium within the orange pekoe family for its leaf quality and presentation, and our curation aims to honour that tradition. GRADE DEFINITION (Tea Exporters Association of Sri Lanka, verbatim): “Long bold leaf tea with air twist consisting of large and slightly open leaf pieces.” TASTING NOTES: Liquor: warm amber-gold. Aroma: mellow, slightly earthy, gentle floral undertone. Palate: smooth and full, mild astringency, rounded body. Finish: clean, lingering warmth. BREWING GUIDANCE: 95°C · 3–5 min · 2–2.5 g per 200 ml · best served plain, or with milk and honey. ORIGIN: Likely high-grown Sri Lanka (Nuwara Eliya / Uva).
