About this product

OP1 is Ceylon's fine-wiry standard — a whole-leaf grade that stands apart from the standard OP by its pronounced wiriness and the lively, bright brew it delivers. The leaf is long and elegantly formed, well or partly twisted, carrying the character of the flush more directly into the cup than the more open OPA structure. For the dedicated loose-leaf drinker, OP1 offers a slightly more structured cup than standard OP: a brighter liquor, a more assertive body, and a character that holds well across multiple infusions when brewed with care. CeylonBlends selects OP1 for its consistency and the clarity of its district expression — a daily-driver grade that rewards good water and attentive steeping. GRADE DEFINITION (Tea Exporters Association of Sri Lanka, verbatim): “Long, wiry well or partly twisted tea.” TASTING NOTES: Liquor: bright amber. Aroma: fresh, brisk, lightly floral. Palate: lively, medium body, brisk astringency that softens with milk. Finish: clean and bright, crisp aftertaste. BREWING GUIDANCE: 95–100°C · 3–4 min · 2 g per 200 ml · best served straight or with milk. ORIGIN: Likely high-grown Sri Lanka (Uva / Dimbula). Provisional — final sourcing not yet confirmed.
